Carnival's Seaside Theatres Prove PopularCarnival Cruises’ Seaside Theatres feature on the pool-sides on five of the line’s Fun Ships – 270-sq. ft. LED screens displaying an array of programmes, films, concerts, sporting events and news. Morning Shows hosted by the ships’ cruise directors are also displayed. The first Seaside Theatre debuted in 2005 on Carnival Liberty and was so popular with cruise guests that the screens are now included in all of Carnival’s subsequent new cruise ship projects. This includes Carnival Dream, which is set to debut in September 2009. “The Seaside Theatre concept has resonated very positively with guests, providing a fun and interesting outdoor diversion that is enjoyed both during daytime and night-time hours,” said Ruben Rodriguez, Carnival’s executive vice president of marketing and guest experience. “In addition to popular movies and major sporting events, our shipboard staff have made maximum use of the Seaside Theatres, broadcasting custom-designed programming such as the engaging Morning Shows which have been a tremendous hit with guests,” he added. The twelve foot-by-twenty-two foot screens have the same technology used in large stadiums and New York’s Times Square. The system also includes a 70,000-watt sound-system which provides concert-quality sound on the cruise ships during the day and the evening. |
